My name is Asher David Edelson, and this is the blog which I created for my uncle, Barry Robins. This was a man who lived for the arts, and was famous in his time. Like so many others, Barry passed away due to AIDS complications. He lived a short life, but accomplished so much. His work and memory will continue to be famous, and he will not have died in vain. I cannot complete this alone! I need for people who knew Barry to help me expand this blog. Let us spread the word of Barry David Robins!
I am so happy to find this blog about Barry. Barry and I were flat mates in Manhattan when I lived on 56th and Lexington, and later at his apartment on Hollywood Blvd, in Hollywood. He was a great friend, and the funniest guy I have ever known. He used to walk into the apartment in NY and in a high piched voice would pretend he was Eleanor Roosevelt speaking to Franklin "Franklin, I am home...". Such a great and talented guy. Because of his short stature would have difficultly getting parts but was always so upbeat about everything. Thank you for publishing this blog. I think often of Barry and our wonderful times together.
I love his acting. I just now got done watching Bless the Beasts and The Children. I didn't know that he had died. But he still lives through his work. Im sad today for him. Blessings forever Barry <3
I just discovered your blog. I LOVE "Bless the Beasts and the Children" and I LOVED Cotton. Barry played him with such love, compassion and empathy. I can't watch it today ... it would be too difficult considering the content, however in the 70's when I was a girl I really enjoyed seeing Bill Mumy as a teenage heart throb and the rest of the cast. So sad to hear of Mr. Robins death and of AIDS. God Bless and Thank you for you tribute blog.
Cottons character was a huge influence on my young life growing up in Australia in the riverlands. I had a group of friends not unlike those of the cast of Bless the Beast and Children. The antics that we got up to in the country were very similar and my Cotton in tesl life was named Raymond. He an I were inseparable and really true friends...his demeanor was like that of Cottons character...I would have liked very much to hace met Barry and give him a very big hug...and tell him that his life influenced mine...so very sad that he passed away so young with that terrible disease...I was one of the lucky ones...where ever you are Barry...thankyou for changing my life and saving me in a way I can never really Express...there's a special place in heaven I know your in....maybe one day soon I will give you that hug.x
Just watched your Uncle on Colombo. He was a king in acting as well as in life-one of our chosen-from one native new Yorker to another-he was a precious gem-lost to soon. There is a special place on Mount Sinai for him and those gone too soon. God Bless You and Yours, Mare
